The Game Changing Purple Shampoo

I've had my hair lightened for years and years, ombré and balayage consistently for around 5 years now. You know that beautiful clean, cool-toned blonde we see in photos? My hair does not achieve that naturally. Whenever my hair is bleached, the shade is very warm without fail. Think yellow and orange. Yuk. I hate that. I have it toned whenever I get it coloured, but they only last around a week on me. So, I've probably tried almost every purple shampoo on the market. They have had varying levels of success,  but nothing to write home about. Until I met the one.

Charles Worthington Ultra Violet Shampoo has the claims "Max Strength" and "Salon Strength" on the bottle, so you know I had to try it. After having this on my wet hair for just two minutes in the shower, I could see my blonde turning silver. I have never in my life had such a non-brassy blonde. Hooray! At long last. If you have some blonde in your hair, and enjoy ashy tones, you NEED this product.
Thank me later.

Jeffree Star X Manny MUA

Boy, was I excited for the launch of the Jeffree Star and Manny MUA collaboration. The world and his wife know that Jeffree's Velour Liquid Lipsticks are my very favourites, so I knew the two new Manny shades had to be mine. The black packaging combines both Jeffree's and Manny's logos in holo!

The limited edition collection includes two brand new liquid lipsticks and a Skin Frost. The lip shades are Daddy, a cool toned brown, and I'm Shook, a burnt red-toned coral.

The formula is consistent with Jeffree's usual phenomenal formula, so is very comfortable yet long-wearing. I love both shades, they're incredibly wearable. Daddy is probably my favourite, and seemed to be the one to sell out first. If you want it, don't sleep on it. On me it looks quite 90's, but I'm all about that life. I'm Shook is perfect for the sunnier months.

I'm more than happy with this collab, I think these shades are unique enough to need them in your collection. The Beauty Bay website is currently sold out of the collection, but keep your eyes peeled for a restock in May.

Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Duo

Whenever I'm in TK Maxx, I quickly scan the beauty section. Very rarely do I find anything that I want, the shelves are often ransacked. However, I recently got my hands on an absolute gem; Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Duo in the shade 01.

This product was hugely hyped online a year or so ago, with everybody raving about the highlighter in particular. So much so that the brand recently released full pans of the highlighter alone. I was recently swatching it at a MUFE counter in this shade (the shade 02 is gold toned), but for some reason I didn't pull the trigger to buy it. Hooray! This cost me £12.99 at TK MAXX.

The shade 01 is an icy toned pink, reminiscent of Jeffree Star's Princess Cut. The texture is BUTTERY, and the finish is metallic. I am obsessed with highlighters, it's my favourite part of my makeup routine, and I like my cheekbones to be seriously glowing. This gives me the highlight of my dreams, and blends out beautifully.
The bronzer is quite warm toned, but does not look orange on my fair skin. The texture is so blendable, and I find the shade to be flattering. I've used nothing else since I got it!

Keep your eye out in your local TK MAXX. This one is a keeper.

My Current Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Collection

It's almost the weekend! Hooray! I've got a little pre-weekend treat for you all; a look at my current Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Collection. I say current because I'm definitely going to be getting more.
Left to right: Mannequin, Gemini, Androgyny, Checkmate, No Tea No Shade, Sagittarius, Pumpkin Pie, Chrysanthemum, Doll Parts

As you've probably noticed, this is my favourite formula of liquid lipstick. It's light and comfortable, yet completely opaque and long wearing. There is also an enormous colour range.

Mannequin is a the most beautiful cool-toned nude that goes with every makeup look. It also solves the issue of nude lipsticks wearing off too quickly. It's a keeper.

Gemini is a terracotta warm-toned shade that I find to be really flattering.

Androgyny is one of my favourites. It's a plum- mauve that makes me feel some type of way.

Checkmate is my showstopper red. It's brightening and teeth-whitening.

No Tea No Shade is the only metallic shade I own, a dark purple/brown that's very vampy on my skin tone. The formula isn't quite as opaque as the non-metallic shades I own, but still lovely. My husband chose this one for me and loves it.

Sagittarius is a pretty mauve-nude.

Pumpkin Pie is a gorgeous burnt orange with tiny gold shimmers, photos just don't do it justice. Really unique.

Chrysanthemum is a nude pink with a beautiful tiny gold shift. This is another one of my faves, a go-to.

Doll Parts is cool-toned pink that's bright without being too much.

Keep your eyes peeled because my collection will definitely be growing!

My Rose Gold Hair Dream Come True

I have had some form of balayage/ ombré hair consistently since early 2013, and it's definitely my hair comfort zone. It's low maintenance and that is music to my ears. However, I've been harbouring a desire to have delicate pastel pink/ rose gold tones in my balayage for quite some time, but I've been afraid to make the commitment. When I saw the new L'Oréal Colourista range containing some colour products that can be washed out in three shampoos, I had to try the pastel pink shade.

The product is a tube of colour intended to be used on blonde, highlighted or balayage hair. The directions tell you to wash your hair and dry it thoroughly, then apply the colour directly onto the lightened parts of your hair. It's then left for 20 minutes and rinsed out without shampoo.

I was pleasantly surprised at how vibrant the colour actually turned out in my hair, but it is definitely still pastel. Mixed with the blonde tones in my hair it really does give me that lovely rose gold effect. My hair feels soft, and I actually love the colour.
This product is the perfect way to try a colour before you commit to a new colour that you may or may not like. As it goes, I'm very tempted to have my hair coloured like this in a more long term way.

What do you think?

Jeffree Star Princess Cut Skin Frost

In case you haven't noticed, I'm having a bit of a love affair with Jeffree Star Cosmetics. In particular, his recent Holiday Collection, of which the Skin Frost in the shade Princess Cut is a part. Jeffree claims that his Skin Frosts are the ultimate definition of 'highlight on fleek', so I've been wanting to try them for a while.
Princess Cut is a stunning icy pink shade.

The packaging is the typical JSC hot pink with rose gold stars. It's absolutely huge and feels really sturdy and substantial (that's what she said).
The highlighter itself is stunning, an icy pink with Jeffree's logo pressed into it. I used a fan brush to apply it, and at first it was more subtle than I was expecting. However, it is the most buildable highlighter formula that I've ever tried. It can be built up from a natural glow to absolutely blinding. It's also perfect for lighter skin tones, and outlasted all of my other highlighters throughout my usual workday.
I'm more than impressed with Princess Cut, and the Skin Frost formula.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics is available at Beauty Bay.

January Blues

These days I'm a neutral makeup kind of girl, I don't often use much colour. However, back in the day I loved colour, and got lots of use out of brightly coloured Urban Decay palettes. One of my favourite makeup looks was always a midnight blue smoky eye, there's something so sultry about it. So I created an updated version of it, and it rekindled my love for navy.
