Classic Autumn Look

Hello lovelies!
I'm here to show you one of my favourite Autumn makeup looks, a simple smoky eye with a berry lip. It's simple in that I didn't do any liner or use false lashes, so it doesn't look TOO dramatic, but it's still a little bit smoky. I used cool tones, too, so it's a nice change for me.

My Mac Eye Shadow Collection

Last night I finally got around to depotting my Mac eye shadows, and put them into pro palettes. So, I thought I'd show you swatches of my (fairly small) collection!

I love them all, but I definitely have my favourites. I'm more than partial to warm tones, so they're the ones I use on myself the most. Mythology is potentially my most used shadow, the shimmery rose gold/ copper shade is really flattering on blue eyes. Coppering is another that makes blue eyes pop. My favourite of them all is Nylon. It looks like nothing in the swatch, but it's the best inner corner highlight EVER. If you don't have it, you need it. Haux is a lovely crease shade, and Sketch is beautiful in the outer corner.

Now that I've depotted my shadows, I literally want to buy every single one.
Which ones are your favourites?

Autumn Favourite: Nars Anna Lipstick

Happy first official day of Autumn!
My favourite season. Cosy clothes, hot drinks and, of course, dark lipsticks. I ADORE Autumnal makeup; warm tones and berry lips in particular. I recently pulled out one of my favourites from last year: Nars Audacious Lipstick in the shade Anna.
You can see this one's well loved.

This shade is absolutely gorgeous for Autumn, it's that perfect mauve. It's also more muted than an out and out dark vampy lip, so it's office appropriate, too. I'm obsessed! The texture of the Audacious Lipstick range is dreamy; creamy and pigmented, lasting for hours. Have you tried any of them?

Handbag Essentials

Happy Friday, everyone! I thought I'd show you the bits and pieces that I keep in my handbag to touch up during the working day.

  1. The #Makeup bag was free with a purchase in Superdrug earlier in the year, It's just the right size.
  2. Chewing gum. Obv.
  3. Too Faced Amazing Face Powder. This is such a lovely powder for on-the-go touch ups. It has a good sized mirror and a sponge underneath.
  4. Next Gold Perfume. I've never had so many compliments on a perfume in my life. It's gorgeous and super cheap.
  5. Seventeen Ultimate Volume Lip Gloss 'In The Nude'. This is actually more brown than nude, in my opinion, with a slight shimmer to it. I love the colour, and it's a quick easy option.
  6. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. My fave concealer of all. I keep this almost empty one in my handbag for touch ups, or to brighten up my under eye area if I'm starting to look tired.
  7. Invisibobble. I LOVE these things. It means I can tie my hair up without there being a dent in it when I take it out. Essential.
  8. Mac Creme Cup. My favourite Mac lippie ever. The prettiest of pinks.
  9. L'Oreal 'Protest Queen' Lip Gloss. I love to wear this over Creme Cup, they're a perfect match.
  10. Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick 45. A gorgeous mauve colour that's wearable and comfortable.

What do you keep in your handbag?

1920's Halloween Vamp

It's Autumn! My favourite season. And with that brings Halloween, so I thought I'd start early on the makeup ideas. This one is a 1920's vamp/ flapper makeup (that I actually find quite wearable).

I'll talk it through with you:
Eyes
After priming my eyes with Mac Soft Ochre Paint Pot and setting it with a cream shadow, I packed Anastasia Beverly Hills Noir shadow all over the lid avoiding the crease, then softened the edges with a fluffy brush. I repeated the process to increase the intensity of the black. I then used the Magenta shade from the Morphe Jaclyn Hill Favourites Palette on a narrow crease brush, applying the colour precisely in the crease and blending it out. I took Lorac Slate shadow and pressed it on top of the black with my finger, just on the inner part. I used Mac Nylon shadow to highlight my inner corner.

Lips
I used Revlon Black Cherry lipstick all over my lips, then applied Anastasia Beverly Hills Noir shadow onto the outer corner of my lips with a lip brush, creating an ombre effect.

Brows
I used the Beauty UK Brow Kit make my brows darker than I usually would.

Base
I used L'Oreal Infallible 24H Matte Foundation, then powdered all over to mattify further.

What do you think? I love it!
Which Halloween look should I do next?

Review: Mac Studio Waterweight Foundation

Over the years, my foundation tastes have changed. I used to wear Estee Lauder Double Wear daily, enjoying the fail safe coverage, longevity and matte finish. Whilst that's still a good foundation, I just can't handle how heavy it looks and feels anymore. These days, I really like a lighter texture with a more luminous finish. Enter Mac Studio Waterweight Foundation SPF 30, a foundation that caught people's attention at Milan Fashion Week AW15.

Mac claims that it has an 'elastic formula that blur pores and fine lines' whilst lasting for hours. The photo on the left is before I applied the foundation and the rest of my makeup. The photo on the right is after.

It has a very light, serum-like texture that is dispensed with a dropper. I find it to be extremely blend-able, absorbing into the skin effortlessly. It actually feels quite moisturising, and left my skin with a dewy finish. It has light to medium coverage but is definitely buildable. You can see the level of coverage if you look at the freckle on the right side of my forehead.
My favourite thing about this foundation is that it lasts without getting oily! It has lasted on me all day without needing to be touched up, and remained dewy without being shiny. Also, I can't even feel that it's there! Dreamy.
This foundation is BEAUTIFUL. Try it.

August Favourites

It's that time again! Monthly favourites time. Here's what I've been loving throughout August.

Nars Ita Brush

I was rather late to this party, but now that I've got this brush I wouldn't want to be without it. It has definitely taken my contour to the next level. It creates the right sharp definition, but is soft enough to blend it out beautifully. I love it.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit

Sticking with the contouring theme, I have been (very obviously) loving my ABH light contour kit. I mean, it looks like it's been through a war! I really need to order some refills. This palette is just really reliable. I love the middle contour shade, the bronzers for warming up the skin, and the banana shade for setting my concealer. I've used this palette on lots of clients, too. If you haven't tried it, you should. I haven't tried the cream contour kits from ABH yet, have you? I heard she's releasing a 'fair' palette.

Mac Soft Ochre Paint Pot

I use this product every single day, I couldn't be without it. This is my eye primer of choice, and it never lets me down. It conceals any veins or redness, makes shadows stand out more and stops them from creasing. Holy grail status.

Mac Amber Lights

This eye shadow is BEAUTIFUL on blue eyes. Mac describes it as a 'peachy-brown with shimmer', but to me it's almost a gold/copper shade that's quite metallic when applied. Perfect for Autumn.

Mac Fix+

Another product that I never mention, yet use every day. It refreshes the face, it stops makeup from looking cakey by taking away that heavy, powdery look. It makes shadows and pigments look far more intense. It's a must have in any makeup lover's kit.

Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream

I use this in the morning after I've cleansed my face, and it just feels glorious. Very cooling and soothing on my tired eyes, and my concealer applies beautifully afterwards. Just lovely.
