Charlotte Tilbury Nude Lips

Kylie Jenner's FLAWLESS makeup at this year's Met Ball was created by makeup artist Ariel Tejada for Charlotte Tilbury. The nude lip was so beautiful that I had to find out which of Charlotte's lipsticks was used. It was Penelope Pink and I just had to try it. I also picked up Lip Cheat in the shade Pillow Talk

Don't be fooled by the name. As you can see in the swatch, Penelope Pink is not really pink at all. It's a lovely nude shade in a creamy satin finish. It feels very comfortable and lasts for a good few hours. It almost has a plumping effect on my lips, smoothing the appearance of lines. It's so flattering! It has a very light vanilla scent, ever so slightly more subtle than Mac lipsticks.
Also, can we just talk about the packaging?! My three year old daughter calls this my 'fancy' lipstick and she's not wrong. It just feels luxurious.

Charlotte's Lip Cheats claim to enable you to reshape and re-size your lips, and  Pillow Talk is very similar to my natural lip colour. The formula is almost velvet, creamy but matte. The natural shade really does make ever so slight overlining really easy.

Pillow Talk on the left side, nothing on the right.
I never used to wear lip liners unless I was wearing a bold lip, but I can't believe the difference they make! Nude liners are my faves. Both the lipstick and the liner make me want to try more shades from the range.
I got mine from John Lewis.

May Favourites

I can't believe it's almost June! Here's a rundown of the things I've really enjoyed using during May.

Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink

Don't let the name of this lipstick fool you, it isn't very pink at all. It's a beautiful almost brownish nude in a creamy satin formula. It can look slightly more pink when paired with Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Cheat, or more brown with Mac Stripdown lip liner. I love both combinations. The formula of this lipstick genuinely makes my lips look smoother and fuller, more so than any other that I've tried. I'm dying to try more of Charlotte's lipstick range.

L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation

I won't go on about this one for too long, I have a full review here. It's SUPER blendable, naturally glowy and lasts well. You should definitely try it. I've used this almost every single day since I got it.

Illamasqua OMG Beyond Powder

The same goes for the beautiful Illamasqua Beyond Powder in the shade OMG. It's absolutely dreamy, and I seem to love it more each time I use it. Full review here.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade

I rediscovered this product this month, and I've used nothing else since. I use a small stiff brush to create hair strokes in any sparse areas and to define the over all shape. Nothing lasts like Dipbrow, so it's perfect for warmer weather.

Duo Brush On Lash Glue

Finally! If you've ever had Duo Lash Glue explode all over your fingers, you'll know how amazing the brush on version is. It dispenses exactly the right amount of product and eliminates all mess. Plus, it dries almost invisibly. Every MUA should have this in their kit.

Shellac

Over the past few months I've been having Shellac manicures, and now I'm not sure I could ever go back to painting them myself. Shellac lasts 3 weeks on my nails and I just love it. This is my latest colour - Cake Pop.

Matte Eye Shadows

I've been completely obsessed with matte eye looks, reaching for them far more often than shimmers recently. Some of my favourites are Anastasia Beverly Hills Morocco, Fudge and Noir, Urban Decay Tease and Mac Quarry.

Lip Liners

I just love the difference that lining my lips makes. Mac Stripdown is the perfect brown nude, and I've been using it loads. Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk is almost exactly the colour of my lips, so I can get away with slightly over lining. They also make my lipstick last longer.

I'm sure there are things I've forgotten! What are your favourites from May?

Review: Illamasqua Beyond Powder

I fell in love as soon as Illamasqua posted a photo of their new highlighters on Instagram. The Beyond Powders just might be the prettiest things I've ever laid my eyes on. I have the shade OMG.

This highlighter is the most frustrating thing in the world to photograph. None of the pictures do it justice! OMG is a champagne colour with almost a duochrome reflective quality. It can be applied wet or dry, depending on how intense of a glow you're going for. Either way, it looks healthy and youthful.

The texture is quite powdery, so you will definitely need to tap the excess off your brush before you apply it to your face. However, it blends beautifully into the skin and last all day long. At £32 it is rather pricey (thank goodness for my pro discount!) If you're a highlight lover like me, this is a Summer must-have.

What do you think?

Review: L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation

Cushion foundations have been on the beauty scene for the last year or so, Lancome released the first one I'd ever heard about. Since then, more and more brands have launched their own take on it, and it has now hit the drugstore. Enter L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation (Lumi Cushion if you're in the US).

The concept of a cushion foundation is that inside the compact their is a foundation soaked cushion into which you dip your brush or sponge, then apply it to your face. No tell-tale foundation stain on the back of your hand, no mess, no fuss. Sounds good to me! This product is also labelled as a dewy glow foundation that is buildable.

The packaging is really light and compact, not at all messy even after multiple uses. It would be great to travel with, eliminating the worry of a foundation explosion in your suitcase.

The texture of the product is also incredibly light and it gives a light to medium coverage. It is quite dewy but surprisingly doesn't feel greasy. I have an oily T-zone, so grease is definitely something I try to avoid. It sets quite quickly and doesn't feel wet or sticky. So far so good.

I checked my face throughout the day and was very pleasantly surprised. It lasted so well! I never had to add any powder, as my oils peeked through my face looked glowy rather than greasy. It withstood the hot weather, too.

Overall, I'm so impressed with this foundation! It's just so easy to apply, easy to blend, easy to transport, and lasts all day on me. I've worn it everyday since I got it.  I definitely recommend you try it.

I got mine at Boots for £9.99.

Review: Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

Finally a makeup setting spray that actually does something! I never thought I'd see the day. Urban Decay All Nighter.

Urban Decay claim that this oil free product stops makeup meltdown and keeps it looking fresh for 16 hours, as if it has just been applied. With my slightly oily t-zone, I was really interested to see if it made a difference to the wear of my makeup.

The spray is really fine and didn't leave my face feeling wet or sticky. You can feel it setting almost immediately, but it doesn't feel tight or dry. Throughout the day it felt really comfortable and definitely helped to delay the appearance of oil in my t-zone. I got a good solid 12 hours wear of my makeup, without it breaking down at all! That's pretty much unheard of for me. The weather has been quite hot, too, so that's even more impressive. A Summer essential. I picked up the travel size in Debenhams for £9, but I'll definitely get the full size.

Have you tried it?

Review: Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet

I first tried Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation a couple of years ago when it was launched. When I recently started using it again, I realised I hadn't actually reviewed it here! It has to be mentioned, since it's one of my favourites.

This is an incredibly lightweight foundation that gives a light to medium coverage. It has a very runny liquid formula with that gorgeous signature Chanel scent. If scented foundations bother you, I would avoid Chanel entirely. It blends like a dream, evening out the skin tone beautifully. It sets to a natural matte finish, and almost looks like you're not wearing foundation at all. Your skin but better. My shade is 20 Beige, and I have 30 Beige when I'm more tanned.

It just feels like a good skin day! It's a great Summer foundation, just enough coverage without feeling too much in the warmer weather. I recommend it to anyone with normal to oily skin, who likes a weightless foundation.

What's your favourite Summer foundation?

Mac Eye Look: Coppering

Mac Coppering eye shadow is one that sits in my collection and doesn't get used very often. It's an orange copper shade in the Veluxe Pearl finish. I thought it was about time that I showed it some love, and I really liked the look it created.

I won't bother listing my base, cheek and brow products, because they're the same as in my last post, so I'll just list my eye and lip products.
