Review: Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation
I might be the pickiest person ever when it comes to foundation, very few are ever loved enough to be repurchased. Although I currently adore the Too Faced Born This Way, I'm always on the hunt for absolute perfection. Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation recently caught my eye.
It was the words soft-matte hydrating foundation that really intrigued me. I mean, when is a foundation ever both of those things? I had to find out for myself.
The packaging is a very light squeeze tube, very handy. The texture of the foundation itself is very thick and mousse-like, very similar to that of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation.
In fact, I find the Dream Velvet to be almost identical to the far more expensive Tarte one. It has medium build-able coverage that blends beautifully and doesn't feel too heavy. It leaves my skin feeling really silky soft, not greasy or tacky at all. On my normal to very slightly oily skin, it lasts a good six hours before I might need to powder my t-zone a little bit.
Overall, I'm pretty impressed. A dupe of a hugely popular high-end foundation for a fraction of the price?! Yes, please.
I bought mine at Superdrug for £7.99.
